Then I mentioned we have homeschooled for 40 years, and our youngest Katrina Irene had just turned 20 (yes they named two super hurricanes after this great young lady).
Truth be told, no more teens for another year when homeschooled Texas grandkiddo #1 of 22 turns 13. Apparently, our homeschooling is spanning the generations…
Grant asked a reasonable question: what do homeschool parents tell their kids about the world, in essence, “how do we prepare them for the Democrat infected chaotic world public school kids experience?”
On the call, I should have done a better job of explaining; after all, I’ve become, while practicing real estate to feed my offspring, a Home based Catholic education ambassador of sorts. By default.
Long a proponent of common sense school choice, both in which path parents decide, and $10k to $15K per student in their backpacks NOT filtered thru the Cal DOinD, the Department of Indoctrination run by Chief Ed Officer Slick HairGel Cal and his gender fluidics wifey Jen.
Wash DC says they help blacks and families while banning choice and vouchers.What could be wrong if PARENTS (help the false flagged, binary parental units) get $15K in an ESA or Education Savings Account to have CHOICE in educating THEIR kids, still leaving $7K/year for the failed pubic ed system for each kid that escapes it?

Think about it; our kids don’t need to be immersed in the sewer or septic tank to know what to do and respond later in life. Schools should be about EDUCATION. We need to rethink what “education” is, something those who practice private schooling home based education know pretty well. Today is not the Laura Ingall little red schoolhouse days in most cities…our Prairie dwellers number millions but in diverse situations, from outer rural to inner city mayhem. Basics to consider:
- EVERY parent homeschools from birth. Education or forming the minds and drawing forth (trans of Latin “educare”) knowledge and wisdom from our gifts from heaven, our precious children, begins when Suzie or Johnny pops out of mom. For those first 3 or 4 years, the parents ARE the teachers.
- Parents evaluate then CHOOSE to continue to homeschool or they choose to loan their children to others: private schools like Montessori, parochial schools like St. Norbert’s, Holy Family, St Paul Lutheran, Jewish school or free public education. Fact is, most parish based Catholic schools are NOT 100% Catholic, because people of all faiths chose them today because they have confidence in the quality. Why not give ALL Calif. students EQUAL OPPORTUNITY!!
- By the way, FREE public ed is NOT free, costing 40% of California’s public taxes or $119billion for K-12 2022-2023
- And Grant must know, public ed is government owned and directed schooling in concert with the corrupted teacher’s unions that Al Shankar said “I will represent kids when they start paying union dues”. Yes, great public teachers and schools exist, but as time marches on… pubic schools believe they OWN your kids, not loaned for a few hours each of 180 days. NO WHERE in the states or federal Constitution does it empower government employees to fix the kids.

Donna and I started our homeschooling adventure with our oldest’s birth, Josh in April 1983. Do the math: Josh is 40 years old today. Just like the ADA (Jen’s ‘butts in the seats’ mention) accountants do, it’s the start of his education. We weren’t think about schools as he popped out: we were just in awe, as you were when Wyatt made his appearance. First borns change us forever, unless we are soulless abortion loving pregnant teen traffickers like the Gruesome Newsom Twosome. Gavin celebrates, with CEO Jon DunnAGBonta bragging, they’ve killed prebirth babies and mauled their mothers from 32 states so far…and at planned parenthood, which has 50 clinics in public schools. So far. Coming to a Dallas school near you. These demons are relentless.
I was the youth minister at Christ Cathedral’s previous parish, St Callistus and Donna and I discussed the available paths when Josh was still a toddler: we had a good public ed in Anaheim, we could get a discount at St Callistus or become pioneers by choosing a path less traveled, home based Catholic education.
We chose (that word school “Choice” again) to homeschool, the abbreviated label for a lifestyle more than just filling, as Rushbo puts it “young skulls full of mush”, minds with facts. We’ve found as have thousands of others, that it is a FULL filling way of life. Yes, we don’t take two vacas a year to Maui or Italy, but it is made up for in joy (and setbacks), love and results.
Grant, homeschooling is not a crime (Michelle Malkin’s phraseology), it’s a choice. It IS a lifestyle worth pursuing.
And not everyone wants to or will do the sacrifice necessary. That is OK! We parents have lots of things to do in life and decide, to work to pay bills, to get ahead. Kids, as they come, impact those decisions.
I noticed my fave Jen co-host Grant is or was Catholic, when Pastor Jack spoke. He acknowledged the Trinity with a sign of the cross at an inland empire townhall during the invocation: you don’t have to be Catholic to know this, but the modern Catholic Catechism says the obvious in paragraph 2223:
‘Parents are the PRIMARY educators of their children.’

Grant and his ex wife are the primary educators of Wyatt Earp; he is a lucky son! Adults make choices and stand by their decisions. Kids are both the beneficiaries and the victims of those.
When Josh was 883 days old, we were blessed with #2 Matt and the homeschooling continued, of course not formally. I worked three jobs and Donna worked outside the job market; mid 80s, we formally evaluated and chose the homeschool path.
We first joined CHEA, the Christian Home Educators Association, assimilated curriculum, following classic scope and sequence. I have an MBA in marketing and Donna an AA. You don’t need to be a PhD educrat (would you have Dr. Jill Biden teach?)
EVERY parent is more than able to consider homeschool IF they look at all their resources (grandparents included), prioritize their priorities and as Yoda puts it: don’t say, DO!
Choose to do it, choose not but CHOOSE. Evaluate. Don’t be a reed in a SoCal tropical storm. Certainly from K-8th, you shouldn’t second guess homeschooling: you are ABLE, moms and dads. In fact, today, there is so many hybrids, curriculum, opportunities because homeschoolers are welcomed in the community like for field trips and there is a ‘renaissance of home based ed’ going on.
Truth: our 11 kids, like most actual homeschooling families, were barely effected in general by the Covid and Dr Pfaucinstein fiasco years. We had the freedom to research, to dig deep, to analyze what was going on. And keep on going.
We continued coops, days in the park, field activities because we could. The other 58 million “forced” homeschoolers (ALL families reluctantly schooled their kids at home (quasi homeschool?) with brick and mortar shutdowns discovered just WHAT was being shoveled at their kids’ minds IN their pubic ed schools. At their kitchen tables.
I believe the modern parent “revulsion or revolt” happening in Virginia, Chino V, Temecula and Murrieta had its seeds watered during School Covid Lockdowns. NOT so much in Florida and South Dakota.
Parents SAW and HEARD the outrageous stuff coming from their kids’ teachers, many for the first time
Ever hear PTA mentioned anymore? You know, the Parent Teachers Association? If the PTA still existed, maybe Stalin Garland would be tar and feathered for his insane depictions of families and the heads of families: no, not birthing units but parents.
It truly is an awesome lifestyle if you understand what happens; after 40 years, I have no regrets and if I could ask Donna who art in heaven, she’d say the same thing. Results matter…live each day as if it is your first AND your last.
In our early formal homeschooling years, we met at Magnolia Baptist for coops with like minded families. “Coop” is a term used in the modern homeschool movement for parents gathering together to do cooperative classes in any and every subject on earth that are necessary for solidly educated, well formed minds of the next generation. We bring in tutors, draw from extent talents and fellow parents… Later, we joined St Michael’s Academy, an association of Catholic homeschooling families, with its own Independent Schooling Affidavit, because the government doesn’t like schooling their government kids outside of their purview. They constantly try to undermine the independence and efforts of parents deciding to homeschool, despite the average results beats the best UTLA and other pubic schools successes. Frankly, in this massive techno revolution, there is so much opportunity to efficiently and joyfully have our kids become critically thinking, motivated, respectful citizens of the best country on earth…OR watch as our kids dip their toes in the cesspool and jump all-in when “friends” and other parents don’t value, like transphiliac moms & dads are ok with Johnny becoming Jane at age 6, dressed in junk pocketed Target gear and mini-dildoes. Often, homeschool families become the after school hours magnet home for the neighborhoods that have kids.
Grant, do you ever wonder why public schools need six hours per each 180 compulsory ed day to educate a 2nd or 7th grader? Then pre-Class childcare for parents who both work and then post class activities, including afterschool childcare and then homework at home for the 1 hour the family is together at nights half the year. That’s 1080 hours per year or $1000/hr per classroom K-12.
I wonder what the schoolhouse in Little House on the Praire came in at public dollars.
Is government public ed to teach critical thinking, learn thoroughly the subject matter, form character and moral growth or just babysit our kids?

Grant, the most famous complaint from the homeschooling skeptics is a whatabout:
“what about socialization?”, a parroted line.
When first asked this ??, I play dumb and ask the skeptic “Could you spell the word?” then when they go white, I ‘fess I know what it means. Being a parrot isn’t smart sometimes.
The response is simple: “Do you mean socializing with game boys or learning character qualities, growing morally and learning social skills?” They nod. I ask: “So, you think pubic school does this.
Let me ask you: Where else in life do you rely on 25 13 year olds or 40 8 year olds to infuse your kids with good character development, learning initiative, respect, industriousness, friendship etc.?
Socialization is just another false flag flown by the reprobate left. Socializtion is accomplished by mature adults and older family members, it’s modeled and taught.” Usually, they see the light: those that want it done their way leave undeterred.
Parents ARE the primary educators and if they want to loan their kids to others, please vet them completely. They can’t “fix” your kids if they screw them up. In the 90s, I did what is finally happening today. Gloria Molina invited me and I spoke for 3 minutes’ public comment periods, over a series of Santa Ana Unified board meetings.
They were evaluating adding SIECUS (Sex Information and Education Council of US materials, the arm of planned parenthood) for “comprehensive sex education” throughout the district. We tried valiantly, but SAUSD had friends at PP and convinced the parents it was essential and safe. We lost. So did the kids.
Like “safe and legal”, just more mumble jumbo to get the demonic, leftist crap past the hapless parents. I should point out, homeschoolers are NOT protected from society: they can become targets from the control and power freaks among us.
On the same show, there was an odd caller sharing about his experience with Child Family Services taking his kid from his mother. Grant deferred but frankly, homeschoolers are not everyone’s favorites. Lord Acton was right: Power DOES corrupt the morally corrupt and must be battled.
Non homeschoolers can be very critical out of ignorance, spite or real concern, sometimes just jealous.
For 30 of the our 40 years, I paid $100 a year for the Home School Legal Defense Association or HSLDA, a legal cooperative that defends parents and families from outrageous lawsuits and actions by truant officers, school districts and jealous neighbors. Money well spent; their monthly journal discusses the unjust actions in states, federal and other countries, trying to destroy the right of parents to choose their kids’ education. Those that HSLDA battled were quick to trigger an invasion of the sanctity of innocent homes. You might think the UTLA Cal Teachers unions would be happy parents relieve their crowding by schooling at home, but money speaks:
EVERY privately schooled child cuts the ADA or Average Daily Attendance sacrament, that governs how much each district and K-12 gets from the $119 BILLION cash gov cow. The unions buy the prostiticians and contribute to the politicians, but they demand much for their (really OUR) money. IF there is election naughties going on, you bet a great place to look is the massive Democrat uniparty leadership bullies. How about a true example of well-meaning government overreach.
A 25 year homeschooling mother of 13 kids, LG, got a surprise visit from CPS (child protective services). LG has great kids and over the years, I have had the privilege of working with them, my kids are friends with theirs, etc. A jealous anonymous neighbor turned them in for child neglect and other concoctions. As Grant you know, parents are guilty until proven innocent. LG let the woman in to see just how neglected the 13 kids were; after ten minutes, she apologized and left and never came back. Yes, there are Turpentine examples, who really were not homeschooling the kids.
But, riddle me this: if the government’s interest is to protect the kids at all costs, why does the Chief Ed Officer, Slick HairGel Cal Newsom, and his super Thurmond, encourage pregnant students from 32 states to come to California to have their prebirth future little girl kindergartener killed for parts? I have NEVER seen a child protective servant or truant officer at planned parenthood at 700 Tustin in Orange where kids are killed almost every day. I know, because I pray and intercede with the innocent moms as they come out. Yet another happened, where I gave a couple a rose and asked the frightened girl “what’s up?” and “What do you need, how can we help?”. Her simple quiet response is why I’ve invested countless hours doing a 9-11 rescue at this evil joint: she said, after getting the ultrasound proof of life, 7 weeks along:
“I just don’t want to hurt my baby”
Good news, Grant, she won’t. I gave her a place to go for free services, including followup, prenatals, a free doctor and lots of love. She and her man agreed to NEVER come back to the evil kill mill.

Grant, homeschoolers are not survivalists, shutting out the world. We are part of it but not OF it. We are happy and generous people because schools are not escape pods so moms can go get mani-pedis and yoga. They involve sacrifice, especially by the first sex, the female. Male is the other one, not to be confused with the Democrat Gender Ideologies Dept’s 60 preferred.
Moms do a lot of this. I am adamant that moms need monthly MNOs or Mom’s Nights Out if the family is homeschooling. Adamant! And when possible a rose or flower every day from their hubbies. Homeschooling IS a full court family operation but the rewards are more than temporal: they are ETERNAL.
Every parent can homeschool after 3 if they want; there is so much good materials, technology, opportunities today.
We had an Air Force Academy physics teacher, a parent in our group, who taught physics for years in early high school coops. I taught a high school business class where the kids were divided into three and started their own businesses.
Imagine if each student’s backpack was filled with $15,000 each August so parents could choose which school their kids went to! Break the unholy monopoly of government schools and lapdog teachers’ unions and the resurgence of smart would be incredible. We have a renaissance in homeschooling: it would be great for this to be universal for ALL students.
EVERY grouping of parents have talents that make them excellent to do a class or project. Over the years, we’ve done many a science fair at our little Beckman Ranch. You know, teaching truth about aerobic respiration, CO2 concentrations and photosynthesis that prove Gore->Kerry global warming morphed to climate change, is the greatest fraud in history and the demonization of CO2 the most evil misuse of God’s gift that FEEDS the WORLD. Hannity calls the “climate cult” out as you do. But truth is shouted out by the thugs.
Ask any credible atmospheric physicist if ONE CO2 molecule per every 2500 air molecules ‘changes the climate’. Or fire’s fire. It becomes wildfire when tree hugging Sierra Clubbers who love dead prebirth kids but don’t want dead wood moved from the forest floor. After 40 years, it will be 484 days between our last teen day of Katy’s is replaced with the first teen day of our Texas oldest granddaughter. Yes, Grant, I have the hat, bolo and boots, plus 3 saddles at our Anaheim 2/3s of an acre little ranch.
My oldest daughter and her youth minister hubby relocated with their five kids to Houston area and are not coming back except to visit. Homeschooling is such a blessing, it is also intergenerational. She continues to homeschool the grand offspring because, repeat: it is a choice not a crime. A LIFEstyle worth considering and DOING.

I’m the grandpa of five beautiful black grandkids, three we are adopting. Blacks by census make up 12% of the country; yet visually, it seems 99% of the retail raiders at Nordstrom, Footlacker, etc are black.

I have been writing a book called oddly “A Homeschooling Renaissance”, out sometime in the next decade. I believe the truth is so much more powerful than Adamic Schiffty Schitty lies. Donna and I made some mistakes, yet she’s in heaven and Mary became a stepmom 4 years ago by saying Yes!! to 12 kids, with me being her oldest.
Homeschooling we did but worked with decades of public school kids in different religious ed, Confirmation and young adult programs. Of our 11, we have, so far, 12 degrees, including Communications, BS Animal Health Vet tech, BS Computer Sci guy, magna cum laudi English, MS in mathematics who is now a headmaster in Ohio of a Chesterton Academy; a great sculptor, more AAs, a couple MBAs…still waiting on a Geology degree.
But Grant a degree is measured in F or C and in scholastics, only useful if put to use. This is the side benefit of homeschooling: many colleges welcome them based, not on race or creed, but studiousness. The problem is LAUSD graduates only 78 per 100 of their high schoolers and all with an average 35% math and English proficiency; meaning to ENTER college too many kids need post high school pre college remedial classes in math and other subjects. $119 billion well spent? Sure. I have this cokehead extorting son near Brooklyn for sale.
And note, the 60s saw the left take over colleges; over time, they prevent conservatives from becoming tenured. Their schools
of education and journalism have become snake pits of idiotics and fakery. Fake news and loon academics has filtered down into K-12 naturally. Look in the mirror Grant: name ONE good reason for impressionable awesome kids to have their breasts and penises chainsawn off after being drugged with natural process inhibiting and changing puberty blockers. The eunuchization of our kids is insane. The Dems, Democrats, Demonrats (pick one) are experts at distorting words and phrases. I like this meme: “If genital don’t define gender, how does removing them affirm it?”
EVERY Genital gender affirming surgeon should be “eye for eyed”; have their sex organs mutilated as they do to the young. What parent in his or her right mind even thinks this is rational action: as it is, thanks to the transphiliacs, the governmental transmutilated kids commit suicide twenty times as often as normal kids. There is NOTHING normal about eunuchisizing our precious young.

While, the left’s 2020 deadly peaceful protestations of the 574 Summer of Love riots may be in the past, the present and future are in doubt. Frankly, pubic education needs BK court proceedings to sift through the ashes of EMperor slick hairGel Cal’s tyrannical empire that is destroying a whole generation of kids. As Mrs Shaw testified, the Golden State IS bankrupt by maybe $50 billion. Crunch that: we automatically give head master Gavin and dean of pubic students Tony Thurmond $119 billion to educate 13 years of students, 1080 hours a year. In ANY other private business, 25% NON graduates at 1/3 the expected proficiency in core subjects would be enough to FORCE bankruptcy on the failed leadership run by the Queen and King TUTs (Teachers Union Thugs). I’m not necessarily recommending Chapter 7 (major liquidation) but at least Chapter 13 reorganization via a receivership. AND School Choice, disbursing $15,000 per public and private student would leave enough to end the state indoctrination via government employees and bring in a renaissance in public ed to match the Renaissance in Home Based Education underway. Our kids deserve no less and it is the PARENTS money not the Gruesome Newsom Twosome’s piggy bank.
The school board scrutiny is just beginning even though the TUTs have eased out PTA cooperation.
Parents: Do the best whatever your choice of schools; six states HAVE school choice and vouchers. California needs to be #7. Evidence is coning in weekly. Like the LAUSDistrict HQ having, of all things, PARENTS rallying to “Leave our Kids Alone”. And like a cockroach on honey, the Chaos Corp of Queer Nation, BLMatter, TranstiFA, Ground Game, etc. shows up. And when the police came, it wasn’t the parents: it was the carpet bagging Damnocrat anti Family who were arrested.
Grant, even though every parent does it for a time, homeschooling isn’t CHOSEN by everyone. But, as a cradle Catholic, you must know God has entrusted that fine young man named Wyatt Earp to your care. For a time.
