These modern true civil rights advocates, not battling over color or well deserved recognition of being equal humans, but for the lives of mothers and babies, are ALL heroes! Let me start with the one who had the longest FACES Act induced sentence.PL hero Lauren’s incredibly horrible crime? Giving roses to women desperate for true love because their men most often failed the test of time, commitment and protecting the woman in their lives.
Lauren Handy is one of the kindest woman I know in my seven decades on this 3rd rock from the sun; she is always thinking of others, especially the pre-birth kids who are at-risk inside women in crisis, her fellow inmates and others. When I first met her, as part of a team of great and serious anti-abortion workers I also call heroes, she was discerning and on her way to fulfilling her desire for a deeper love of her God, the Eucharistic Son of the Father.
We all have individual journeys, sojourners on the way to a permanent forever home. Jesus was/is Lauren’s goal, much like Colonel Mike Hopkins carrying the Eucharistic Lord (for weekly Holy Communion) above his heart into space as part of ISS Dragon-1. He said at the NEC June 2024 these words of wisdom:

Quick backstory on Lauren:
Early in 2013, no longer on a Catholic parish staff after 33 years, I had a minor role in arranging the June 17-28, 2013 Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust prolife training camp.
The place it happened at, was a location Relevant Radio host Patrick Madrid knows well: Santiago Retreat Center in the OC.
Fast forward: As it turned out, the youngest prolife warrior, Lauren was given 57 months in Fed lockup, the most I believe among the Garland 9 and other prolifers treated unjustly.
In 2013, Ms. Handy was in RCIA at her local parish, preparing to join the Church and came to the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust camp for hands-on training with Jeff White, Cheryl Conrad, Troy Newman, Bryan Kemper, Kristina Garza etc. and innovative events like a public Hoag hospital thank you, die-ins at the beach and AMC “the Block”, etc.
Necessary “out of the box” experiences the young people thrived on because the young need to be challenged.
A daily plus was Survivors coordinator back then Kristina Garza is a devoted Catholic and we had daily Mass available for all comers at the old St Michael’s Abbey 4 miles away.
One of those June mornings included a surprise reunion with Fr Leo Celano, the legendary and mighty prolife Norbertine/ Premonstratensian now in heaven or nearby in Purgatory. I vote for heaven but if you knew Fr Leo, you’d understand.
Working with her at camp, Lauren showed me what a focused living saint looks like. Fearless, bold yet reserved in demeanor, ready to serve.
She continued to work with Survivors after that camp, among other prolife ministries; eg the Survivors’ answered invitation to join New Mexico Alliance for Life (the picture above) with Bud& Tara Shaver, Elisa Martinez etc. in serious efforts to save lives in that rabid pro-abortion state. NM Alliance for Life continues today under Elisa Martinez’ leadership.

If you think about it: other then walking into hell at Margaret Sanger Kill Mills, one of the worst places for female abuse is inside women’s prisons; a minority inside the walls are scumbag guards, usually men, who torture the ladies, demanding sex like slaves, already vulnerable.
Like the apostles in the Roman jails, Lauren did what she does well, ministered to the least, the lost, the lonely, the abused she saw daily while inside doing her unjust sentence. What did astronaut Hopkins say? “Jesus was with me and He had other plans!” Lauren just ministered. Her desire to serve Jesus and protect the innocent little ones (as well as moms) extended beyond the non-grave:

The two other convicted pro-life activists pardoned by Trump are Herb Geraghty of Pennsylvania and Jay Smith of New York. Many are still incarcerated.
Lauren Handy, a Catholic convicted for her participation in a 2020 abortion clinic blockade in Washington, has been serving the longest sentence: 57 months. PP Vigils for life. Back in California, in the heart of the OC, we try most Saturdays to help women protect themselves and their babies at the Orange County HQ of CEO Jon Dunn’s planned parenthood of San Bernardino and OC counties.
700 Tustin Ave at the 22 freeway in Orange has been the home of much evil, but the brick building has seen and heard great people like David Daleiden and Lila Rose, the Premonstratensian Fr Alan from St Michael’s Abbey and a encouraging testimony about the $7 million judgement by DA Rackaukaus for planned parenthood selling DaVinci Biosciences (Yorba Linda) chopped up baby parts. Some dare call them human! You and I certainly do!
A useful time tested strategy remains using roses. How often will a woman pass up a fragile rose? Adaptable everywhere.

The 20 young adults (TY Brandon, Kathleen etc.) from St John the Baptist Catholic church in Costa Mesa made the trek out to PP Headquarters where they draw and quarter too many prebirth kids, still selling them on the open market of death.
On Jan 25 for almost two hours these courageous young prayed and counseled on the sidewalk on Tustin; in fact, the lady I called the queen to protect her anonimity and my memory, walked the 80 something faithful prayer warrior Jerome back across the street to safety.
Of note, we gave out a healthy amount of free info and thorns adorned with roses. But, a huge high point Miss E from St John the Baptist was able to engage a woman in conversation; the unidentified 20 something pregnant girl sat high in a monster truck and let Miss E know she wanted to keep her baby; her driver boyfriend seemed compliant and Miss E had a couple minutes to discuss her options.
She offered her the fly sheet on the local crisis pregnancy centers like the Life Center of Orange County, La Habra Life Center, Obria, Horizon and others where she can get help, for free. After 40 years of this work, I am a bit uncomfortable with
saying we “save” the babies, not to demean the great work pro-lifer warriors do. We are mere instruments, prompted by the Holy Spirit to NOT be afraid, stand courageous and ask for the words to change a heart. God seeks our obedience to His call, more than other things.
17 seconds (the average time to talk as the car leaves PP) is not a lot of time to change one’s confused heart, but it works. Remember, God IS timeless and miraculous.
Miss E even gave the woman her number and offered her follow up support. That is dedication; and the information gave the pregnant lady, more like girl, free access for REAL help.
No, no charge and yes, without being interrogated like the PP sales girls and death doctors into “why would you keep it?” or “imagine how it will change your life”, “You can’t afford it”. It is NOT an it. The ‘it” PP loves to dehumanize is a living human baby, needed to reverse the worldwide depopulation going on where 50 nations are a generation away from extinction. NOT from a neutron bomb, but refusing to have kids. No kids, no world, no schools, no growth…having babies survive birth IS the solution.
God said to multiply NOT subtract or divide kids up into marketable parts.
Conveniently, the Life Center is just blocks away and excellent on giving distraught women a 2nd look and REAL choices.

We need the younger generation to take up their mantle and replace the Lens, the Jerome, the Joans, and join the Laurens for the next years.
Lauren also spent time on the road with the Survivors Outreach Team that traveled the US to high schools and universities to give truth to the young people, and hold the liars’ feet to the fire. Here is a remote letter by founder Jeff from over a decade ago, getting a play by play of the crazies who call ProLifers crazy...you think our collegians are nuts today, from Harvard Hamasian sympathizers to rabid proAbort shills for PP, read this letter.
Kristina was the director, Lauren Handy, Emily and a few others traveled the highways and byways to visit and teach the truth to mind numbed coeds and college boys. The letter is a bit long but an easy read focusing what courageous prolife young adults do…if you are a young adult, Catholic and ready to serve, we are talking efficacious adventure.

mustaches on aborted babies!!! Who’s crazy now?
Dear Friend, I spoke to Kristina, our Campus Outreach Director, by telephone this morning. The Survivors team is on the road, traveling through the northwest. This morning they were in Boise, Idaho. Kristina put me on speakerphone so I could talk to and hear from the team. Boy, did I get an earful! The team was animated and excited as they shared story after story of obnoxious teachers, mobs out of control, persecutions they suffered, and victories snatched from the midst of the chaos!!! Right now I’m looking at my notes scribbled as they shared. Sometimes they were talking so fast it was hard to keep track! I have pages of crazy stories. At the end of the call Kristina summed it up when she said, “You know, they call us crazies, but look who’s crazy now!! Let me share some of the stories beginning with Las Vegas: Picture with me an abortion worker angrily standing in front of the door of an abortion clinic, indignant the Survivors are there. As a young pregnant mom approaches, Lauren hands her some literature and says, “Put this in your purse or she (the angry abortion worker) will rip it out of your hands.” The young girl looks at Lauren like she thought that was a crazy statement. But sure enough, the worker sees it and demand, “Gimme that!” pointing to the literature in the girl’s purse as they walk into the killing center. She disappears into the clinic. Sadness fills the air, another baby lost. But a few moments later she comes back out, clearly shaken up. Lauren puts her arm around her and assures her she was going to be okay and the girl leaves, comforted by Lauren’s kindness with her baby still safely resting in her womb. Crazy isn’t it!? From there the team drove on up to Salt Lake City. The way the team described this city was “untouched” because the abortion clinic acted like they had never had someone stand against abortion in front of their clinic. One employee came out and demanded to know who the Survivors were. Kristina happily gave her one of her cards. Then a new employee walks up and says, as she stared at the pictures of aborted babies, “Whoa! This is what they do?” She was horrified. Before it was time to leave two women left the clinic and chose life for their babies. Now that’s not crazy at all! But ya wanna talk crazy!? Then Boise was the place to be.
At a high school in Boise what could only be described as a mob scene erupted on the sidewalk instigated by the vice principal and protected by the police.
First, the VP kept yelling at the Survivors to stop bullying “his” students as he aggressively tried to block the view of the images. Emily was surrounded by an angry mob of about 20 boys all yelling at her and mocking her. As she held her ground and continued to try to speak to anyone who was not acting crazy, one of the boys lit the pamphlets in her arm on fire!!! Yes he lit them on fire as she held them!!
But it became even crazier!
At one point some high schoolers began to spit on Lauren and a couple even began to throw rocks! You would think that the police would step in, or maybe a school administrator, but their attitude was: Well if you’re going to show this crazy stuff you should expect some people to get angry.
Now that is crazy! And a dereliction of duty!!! They are like the old cops in the south during the civil rights days that stood by and watched as blacks and civil rights workers were beaten.
I confess I was getting angry as I listened but then the excitement level rose again as they all said: “Kristina, tell him about that one boy at the end!”
It seems one young man, 15 years old, was just watching and after the crowd dispersed a little he walked up to Kristina and spoke with her for about 15 minutes. He said to Kristina: Thank you for having a conversation with me. I’ve never had a conversation with someone pro-life. But then it got crazy!!!
A teacher or administrator came rushing over to where the boy and Kristina were talking. She yelled at the boy, “What are you doing, get home right now, stop talking to this person, go home now!!!”
The boy obeyed. Why? Because it was his mother!!!
Kristina said to the mother/teacher; “Don’t be so closed minded.” The mother furiously screamed at Kristina a defense of her parenting model that included a declaration that she taught him to be open minded! Crazy way to show it I say. But!!! Apparently she did because a few minutes later the boy returned to ask Kristina some more questions. He questioned the comparison to the holocaust as he looked at the images. She asked him how were the Nazis able to get the German people to despise and forsake the Jews?
He responded, by dehumanizing them. Kristina simply pointed to the aborted baby in the photo and asked, “What did they do to her?” He simply said, “Wow!”
Then the crazy mom came back, shocked he had returned, and was just chewing him out and berating him for talking to Kristina again. This time she was going to walk him home herself!
As he walked away he discreetly waived goodbye to Kristina, holding his arm close to his side so his mother wouldn’t see the pro-life literature he carried.
This is what the team wanted me to know!! Great thing happen in the midst of craziness!!!
This was just one high school: pamphlets lit on fire, rocks thrown, being spit on and some great conversation – it all makes for one exciting crazy day with the Survivors Campus Outreach Team.
It didn’t stop there. The next day they went to Boise State University, you know, that bastion of higher education in the midst of enlightened students!
The only way Kristina could describe it was like a tourist area in Mexico called La Bufadora which translates the blow hole. La Bufadora is a constant assault of your senses as loud music, the smell of delicious foods and hundreds of trinket hawkers vie for your attention.
It started well at Boise State as the pro-life club leader thanked the team for being there. He said he always wanted to have the abortion victim photography at his university. But soon crowds began to gather in the quad and then counter demonstrators arrived. This is when Kristina said it began to feel like La Bufadora.
As the crowds grew a bunch of guys from the Secular Student Alliance decided to create a “Shame Free Zone” as they chalked a big circle around where they were standing.
They said Shame Free but you had to wonder if they meant Brain Free as one angry college male shouted: “No human should ever be shamed for any choice they make!” That was deep.
But the craziness continued as one of the men held a sign stating: “My body my choice.”
Kristina didn’t want to waste her time trying to educate them on their anatomy so she and the team just did their best to ignore them. Kristina said it seemed like the university was just flipping out! She said the students were acting like monkeys at the zoo, jumping around and screaming.
Some, saying they represented Planned Parenthood, pelted the team with condoms! Shouting, “We love abortion!”
The team could only laugh as they described to me the crazy scene of obnoxious students and counter protestors but they said what made it seem surreal was the contrast of the “normal” mixed in with the bizarre.
There were people handing out coupons for tacos, Komen bracelets, rosaries were being given away by another group and of course the barrage of condoms from Planned Parenthood.
Then as one of the team members was explaining to a pro-life girl on campus that you needed to keep an eye on the students because they sometimes would vandalize the pictures she noticed a young man kneeling in front of the sign.
Sure enough!! He was vandalizing the sign!
He drew a moustache on the face of the aborted baby. Lauren asked him, “Why would you do that to the picture of that little girl who was killed by abortion?”
He just smirked and said, “Well it’s a boy now! I love abortion.”
I tell you; if you are not afraid for the future of our country you would be after just spending a couple of days with the Survivors Campus Outreach Team, experiencing what they experience!
But the team wants you to know something! And they want you to know it as well as they know it because they don’t want you to be discouraged!
Kristina summed it all up: “They like to call us crazy but at the end of the day…
they are the ones who look crazy and it works to our advantage!” The team wants you to know they love the work they do.
Being hit with rocks or condoms, being spit on or mocked all comes with the privilege of being on campus and speaking out on the issue of their day. They represent the truth of abortion and go as ambassadors of Christ and their work is not in vain!
They want you to know that day after day, conversation after conversation – even in the midst of unimaginable craziness – God uses them to change hearts and minds and to save the lives of babies every week.
They are prepared to deal with crazy, they only ask for your continued prayers and support. They are brave young people and I am very proud of them.
I hope you will indeed pray for them and support them as they travel to high schools and colleges, enduring real persecution for standing up for the babies and their faith.
Please help us keep this team on the road. National tours are very expensive not only in the cost of discipleship the Survivors must endure but also in real expenses associated with being on the road.
I want to keep them on the road. I want to keep them out there speaking up against abortion and sharing the gospel of life.

jan 22, 2025 Lauren’s words: “During the beginning of my FACE trial, as I watched abortion fund donors get placed on my jury, I would clench my fists and repeat, “I’m playing the long game.” I told myself I could survive this moment and any indignity, cheap shot, and degradation because the future I was working towards was worth the suffering. This promise became a mantra, a rallying cry, a social media post, and on the first night of my incarceration a burning ember in my soul.
Now 17 months later I ask myself, “What game am I playing?” and “What does winning even look like?”
On the inside looking out, I have watched the shifting landscape of our movement. I have seen loss after loss on a state level, burnout and bitterness settle into activists, and profound paradigm shifts that reflect our current unsteady environment. This makes me wonder what am I even coming home to? Especially when this sharply contrasts with my own experiences under incarcerated conditions.
In general, I try to make the best of any situation but I did not expect to see how I could thrive in my current setting. Yet here I am discovering how truly rewarding it is to see that my pro-life work in prison is just as rich and complex as on the outside. The future I was working toward before the trial was not put on pause. I am taking an active part in the future — making a world beyond abortion — here and now.
Towards the end of December, I was approached to lead a workshop at our prison’s end-of-the-year “Women’s Retreat” for my fellow inmates. I chose to speak on using our personal healing journeys as a catalyst for community transformation. Leading this workshop on politicized healing was incredibly empowering. Watching others approach their own healing in a radical way showed me that building communities that embody love has to start with healing ourselves. That’s why all the games I played (with myself, others, and God) fell away with the understanding that healing is the victory.
A world beyond abortion is predicated on our needs for safety, belonging, and dignity being met. And so I no longer see myself “playing the long game” but as a gardener planting trees for future generations to sit under. By creating the conditions for preborn justice to flourish, we will see liberation in our lifetime.
My hope for 2025 is for folks to access healing in their lives because that is where true victory lies.

“Biden prosecuted pro-lifers—including an 89-year-old concentration camp survivor—for singing hymns in a clinic hallway,” Hawley said on X. “And then Biden turned around & handed out pardons for criminal murderers on his last day in office. President Trump can & should right these wrongs.”
Fascinating, one criminal granted a pardon by Dementia riddled Joe was a demonic guy who shot two FBI agents point blank in their skulls…while his UNjustice team imprisoned mall walkers for 1000 days with NO trial just because he was drunk with a poisonous brew of arrogant power mixed with demonic oppression.

Let me end with this. Two years after Donna died, I put this short note out to friends and family in lieu of a remembrance day. I hope it gives you courage to NEVER be afraid, always ready to give a reason for the hope, a pilgrim’s hope this Jubilee year, that lies within your heart.
Sept 9, 2013 “Donna showed her pro-life colors. She loved kids so much, every time the nurse asked her “Do you want an epidural?” (unmarried male readers: it’s to reduce pain at childbirth) she said no eleven times, not wanting even a 1% chance of hurting the baby in the womb. The consummate mother and a good woman of God.I was the lucky one; she adopted me first. Though she went home very early, and I am no longer a husband, I remain gifted with amazing children and good friends and family like you. (of course since then Mary said Yes! to me and the other 11 kids, what a blessing she has been)I hope you enjoy the two pictures I chose to accompany this note: the first is not morbid, but full of life’s hope. Recall Bishop Brown visited that Wed at the funeral home; there were 900 at her rosary at St. Anthony Claret Wed night, then 1400+ at Holy Family Cathedral, officiated by Msgr Doug, nine other priests and three deacons for the funeral Mass.At the Rosary, we inserted her first and last merit badge card. It shows the love Donna had for Mary and the rosary, and the first, and last, unusual “merit badge”at the vigil rosary. For non BSA people, merit badge cards are given to scouts, after doing the work and earning it, and must be signed off by the merit badge counselor to be valid. I signed it as the clueless husband/scoutmaster but the more important signature in blood was Merit Counselor Jesus Christ’s name; He gave her His merit by His death so she will have a peaceful eternity. Uhm, anyone can apply for this merit badge, btw. Simple app process, ask Jesus to be your Counselor for time and eternity. The benefits, let’s just say, are pretty much infinite.The second is her last photo taken at the HFC young adult ministry Mass with Fr. Quang on July 31stcelebrating/honoring our anniversary coming up on Aug 15th. It turned out to be Donna’s last Mass since 40 days later she headed Home into the Heavenlies. 40, like so many numbers, has real significance in salvation history and the Scriptures. Meaning probation, testing. Donna passed the test of time and eternity. And that special gift Donna provided the world through Lauren (Kramer) eight days after she died is precious too.

Finis: as you pray, recall Jan 27th is the 80th anniversary of the pardoning/release of Auschwitz~Berkinau. The deaths did not end there. One of our young prolife heroes discovered and saved 115 dead little DC babies from the incinerator and paid the price in a Florida prison.
